Barely three weeks before the February 25 general elections, no fewer than 2,000 registered members of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo Central Senatorial District of Ondo State have declared their support for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The decampees who.are mainly youths and loyalists of All Progressives Congress APC and People’s Democratic PDP were said to have pledged to ensure that Hon. Seun Majasan wins the senatorial district with maximum votes.
It was gathered that plans were on top gear by the Senatorial Hopeful to receive the defectors into NNPP fold next week.
Majasan while speaking with journalists in Akure, Ondo state capital today said the defectors who are mainly youths (eligible voters) from the APC and PDP were in addition to the party’s numerous supporters drawn from support groups across the six Local governments made of the senatorial district.
According to him, leaders of the youths (defectors) held an emergency meeting with him on Monday in Akure where they pledged to work for his victory and NNPP in the forthcoming polls.
“Yes, the list of the decampees have been submitted to me to ensure hitch-free of their decamping programme next week. They are now with us now. All souvenirs of our party, NNPP have been given to them. Next week open declaration of the defectors is just for appearance sake.
“It is also true that we have been holding meetings with them since about a month now and we were able to reach and finalise all arrangements today, Monday 6th of February.
“Let me tell you that the defectors had made the best choice in the interest of the nation and its citizens. “This is not the best of times for us as Nigerians. These career politicians have mismanaged us to the extent that we have to stand up and demand our nation by all means and I can tell you that NNPP has the answer to the nation’s problems.
Majasan further stressed that his aims now was to begins “Operation Deliver Your Unit for NNPP saying that the party has been able to map out strategies to ensure success in Ondo Central senatorial district
