THE IMPERFECTIONS OF HON. KINGSLEY KIMIBRADIGHA KUKU, Ph.D: A call for self-callibration of political sojorners.
Reflections from the mind are often offsprings of meditation. I had gone into a brief hiatus for about 100 hours, reflecting on the atmospheric effect of the return of a man, one that I call a generation or a people. I call him a people because the signs that follow him can only follow a number of great persons, not one.
Few Friends and family can attest to the fact that, it has been a recurring ritual for me to pen down some notes out there about the men I admire and adore.
However, what most people do not know is where I draw the inspirational energy from. It is true that certain men can carry or condition atmospheres.
People call him Honorable because of his political anticidents but I call him a name to come; HIS EXCELLENCY. The constant usage of this appellation is an emergency protocol to prevail on eternity to birth a possibility into time and it will come to pass.
Let me get into the mix of this cerebral being without much ado.
THE LIVING IS NOW CELEBRATED IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING.
In the times past, there has been a popular opinion that Africans don’t widely celebrate people while they live but His excellency overwrites that myth. The phrase “Home coming” came into massive use within the past one week, the cyber space is saturated with that already.
The news of his coming home on the 28 September 2023, flew in less than 12hours to the said time and it was a classified Intel that was not within the reach of the ordinary citizens. The 28th day of September came and things went normal as the Arogbo-Ijaw Ibe day was marked.
However, sometime before midday, pictorial evidence had began circulating on the Internet of his presence at the first residential estate in town; God’s own city. Tension began to build up, as people could be seen in front of commercial centres of the commercial headquarters of Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom. A few SUVs drove in and reports came in, how they were almost mobbed because the people thought Kuku had arrived. The occupants of those vehicles scale through safely with the help of some well-meaning members of community. About half an hour later, the man of many colours arrived.
Videographic evidence revealed that, there were people standing on the shoulders of others, Just to have a glimpse of him. Others seen on top of buildings and even climbing electric poles. The crowd erupted in a joyful noise chanting UBOTÈI UBOTÈI UBOTÈI, meaning he has come.
Part of the evidence showed how some people would climb on others to have an handshake, dropped and carried another on their shoulders to touch his hands. These all happened at the gateway town to the ancient city of Arogbo. What caught my admiration most was a middle aged man possibly in his early 50s seen screaming loud with his hands stretched out saying “I had had handshake with him with this particular hand, come and touch it” and people were seen coming around him to touch the hand with which he touch the palm of Dr. Kuku.
The next thing that commanded attention was that, many people were busy on phone calls to their brothers and friends that it is true he is back and they had seen him so they should start coming to Arogbo so that they can see him too.
This escalated the issue a bit further as people gathered around the whole shoreline of Arogbo in great numbers making it even more difficult to land. He eventually gained access to land and events began to take new turn within the town, there was joyful noise all over the places.
After a thorough review of the events that characterised his return to Arogbo-Ijaw land, I asked a few rhetorical questions;
- How can over 100,000 people gather for one man who never made any arrangements to bring them like the rented crowds in Nigeria?
- How many men alive will not fade away after travelling for close to a decade?
- It is a known fact that people desert men the moment they are disengaged from a political appointment; what changed in the case of Kuku?.
X-RAYING THE FISHER’S ANOINTING (CROWD PULLING).
The spirit that gathers people did not begin working with Kuku today. An intercourse with history will reveal that the magnetic spirit had been upon him long enough. As kids in the early 90s, we watched him on the field, playing football and an unusually large crowd came to watch the match. These were not extraordinary turnaments, he made them so.
Sweet memories of my conversations with my Late Uncle Gan Tunyan, a veteran with Radio Nigeria as he then was, served the historical recipe for the supernatural exploits of Honorable Kuku at the revered and Highly venerated Ondo State University, Ado-ekiti, now Ekiti State University, Ado-ekiti. My uncle recounted how students would gather and were ready to shut down the whole University, if the rightful Status was not accorded Kuku. He narrated how students at large would disrupt a gathering with the Vice chancellor in attendance, if Kuku was not invited to the podium to be sitted with the VC and other management staff of the institution. These were not people working on instruction of Kuku, these were people demanding for Kuku to serve them, these were not Kuku’s tribesmen, the native language of Kuku never mattered to them, his Ijaw names never mattered to them, he was a wind even at that time.
How can I not touch on this work without the first executive chairman of Ese-odo Local government Ondo state?
Or his passion for justice and equity that caused a shaking of the powers that be at the moribund Western geophysical company?
Or his exploits at the Ijaw Youth Council and INC.
Can we accurately evaluate the source of this spirit that gathers men without probing his exploits at the Ondo State House of Assembly?
Can we ignore his participation at the Federal government peace and reconciliation committee which eventually culminated into the proclamation of Amnesty by the Federal government?
His last political engagement as the special Adviser to the President on Niger delta and chairman of the Federal government Amnesty program is still fresh in the memory of all. The said program and it’s post Kuku struggles reveals another dimension of him. It is an indisputable fact that every handler of the PAP, (Presidential Amnesty Program) is competent. Professors and military generals have piloted the affairs of the PAP, yet there seem to be a strange and significant difference in the outcomes . The system didn’t bring about the difference, the structure is not obviously responsible etc. This brings me to the conclusion that Kuku is a MAN WITH THE MIDAS TOUCH. A man that is empowered with a strange ability to turn around the fortune of anything. Almost all places he handled even before becoming presidential adviser turned out differently.
IS KUKU JUST A LUCKY MAN???????
Dr. Myles Monroe of blessed memories opined that; “WHEN OPPORTUNITY MEETS A PREPARED PERSON, PEOPLE ERRONEOUSLY CALL THEM LUCKY.”
Deduction from the above unequivocally depicts that anyone who says Kuku is simply lucky is in gross error of judgement and it apparently discernible that such errors emanate from competitive jealousy.
The son of an Ijaw man, who grew up like every other member of the community, schooled among his people beginning secondarily from Ijaw National High School, Arogbo. He wanted more as he was aware of the opportunities that good education would bring.
Before I go further into these chronicles, please allow me delve into little para-legal calisthenics by bringing the words of a popular jurist who was nicknamed Socrate of the Supreme Court and is the author of one of the most popular coinage used in the legal arena in Nigeria:
In Adegoke Motors v Adesanya(1983) 3 NWLR (Pt 109) 250 @ 274-275, the revered Jurist alluded to the finality of the decisions of the Supreme Court when he said that:
“We are final not because we are infallible, rather we are infallible because we are final. Justices of this Court are human beings capable of erring. It will be short sighted arrogance not to accept this obvious truth.”
Chukwudifu Oputa JSC
He went further to make another golden comment on EDUCATION in another case;
“Without education … what is man but a splendid slave, a reasoning savage vacillating between the dignity of an intelligence derived from God and the degradation of passion participated with brutes…”
Chukwudifu Oputa JSC.
His Excellency, Kuku K. K in line with this socratic reasoning decided to continue his education to his alma mata, Ondo State University Ado-ekiti, now Ekiti State University, Ado-ekiti where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in English language. Within his busy and tasking political carrier, he studied several courses, popular among which is a Diploma in Peace and Conflict resolution studies from a prestigious University in the World.
His Excellency had a period of rest from holding political office and during that period he had obtained another master’s, a degree in Law and a Ph.D.
How can anyone adduce this to luck?
Please no one should think His Excellency, Kuku is coming back to do the same good stuffs we were proud of, NO
He is ready to do better.
He is loaded with new strategies,
He is back with a new spirit,
He has taken time to x-ray the past and made crucial amends,
He is malleable enough to bend the right way in accordance with current realities.
He is pregnant with new political and developmental miracles.
He is now back as the K³ pro max.
I decided to use this particular image to write this article because the inspiration was drawn from the image;
-The image depicts insane developmental adventure
-This image brings to mind an unfamiliar dimension to development in this part of the world.
-The image is a representation of the prayers of the Niger delta.
-The image amplifies our cry for a developmental Moses in the Niger delta.
-The image simulates what the new Kuku can do.
This is a clarion call on His Excellency, Hon. KINGSLEY KIMIBRADIGHA VALENTINE KUKU Ph.D to accept an office and avail us the opportunity for astronomical development. Arogbo Ibe had been stunted in development since you sojourned.
This is an apolitical call and must not be seem from the prism of political partisanship.
Let Kuku accept this boat and get on board for the sake of his people regardless of political inclination and alignment. As a Daniel of our generation, Kuku is anointed to survive and excel even in Babylon and eventually bring the whole people to alignment with his God, and as Joseph of our generation, He is anointed to succeed in Egypt for such a time as now so that his people will be brought under God’s umbrella of preservation.
The future of his people whom he loves critically depends of this decision.
If Harold Dwight Laswell was right in holding that “politics is who gets what, when and how”, it now indisputable that the call is about the people, what they could get through the person/character/anointing/energy/synergies of Kuku that will benefit them from the central government. Now is the right time to get it, and that the instrumentality of the political craft and magnanimity of Kuku could get them great portions of what they want.
Let all hands be on deck to get an office for this people called Kuku, so that we can exude and enjoy the milk therefrom.
Please pardon my melodramatic approach, I mean no one(not even Kuku) needs to be perfect before they can make meaningful and life changing impacts. We simply need to be humane and keep conscience alive to be good enough.
Shalom.
