The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Rep. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has congratulated Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on his victory at the Supreme Court.
The electoral victory of the Governor in the October 10, 2020 governorship election is being challenged by the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede.
Unsatisfied with the verdicts of the governorship election tribunal and appeal court that upheld the victory of the Governor, the PDP candidate had approached the apex court to seek a turnaround.
But in its ruling on Wednesday, the seven-member supreme court Justices led by a Chairman, Justice Mary Odili, dismissed the prayer by the PDP candidate.
While responding to the verdict, BTO as popularly called stated that it was a testament of the credibility of the election that gave the Governor victory in the last Gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on New Media, Alao Babatunde, the legislator commended the Supreme Court for allowing the rule of law to take charge in the discharge of its judicial duties.
He said, “For the third time, the victory of Mr Governor has been upheld and this is an affirmation that confirms the mandate of the people of Ondo State given to the Governor.
“Again and again and again, we’ve seen that it’s not a fluke and providence has given us a man bold, confident and courageous at this time.
“I congratulate the Governor and I can assure that the people of Ondo State will be the greatest beneficiaries of this victory as this will help the Governor concentrate in building on his achievements in his first term in office,” he submitted.
