The last may not have been heard of the recent resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of a former Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Buhari, as ex Kwara Governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed had a close door meeting with the former PDP scribe on Saturday in his Maitama residence, Abuja.
Abdulfatah is the immediate past Governor of Kwara State and ally of former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
It was learnt on Saturday from reliable sources close to the former Governor that the duo were engaged in ‘frank and rigorous talks’ for close to three hours over the sudden resignation of Buhari from the PDP. The source said the two politicians however maintained sealed lips after they emerged from the meeting.
This medium is unable to confirm the reason for the meeting of the duo. Neither the former Governor nor the former PDP secretary was willing to divulge information on the essence of their meeting.
“They did not utter a single word after their hours long meeting. What we saw though was that the two of them came out of the meeting smiling, a source said.”
It will be recalled that this medium had reported on Friday that the former PDP Organising Secretary had come under immense pressure from stalwarts of the PDP in Kwara State to rescind his decision to resign from the party.
Several sources informed this medium that a former gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Abdulrazak Atunwa, a former Senator representing Kwara South Senatorial District, Rafiu Ibrahim, are among the high powered delegation that have continued to prevail on Buhari to retrace his step back to the dynasty.
“It is obvious that they are emissaries of the former Senate President Bukola Saraki. Their task is to bring back Buhari into the Saraki dynasty, no matter the gravity if his grievances.”
“They are banking on the assurances that he only resigned as the Organising Secretary of the PDP in the state and not as a member of the party.”
“They are trusting that they could use a last minute window to bring him (Buhari) back into the mainstream of the dynasty,” the source said.
It however remains to be seen whether Buhari, popularly known as BIGGEST FISH in local parlance, will accede to the request or not.
