OSOPADEC Chairman Visits Obe-Nla Kingdom After Violent Attacks, Pledges Relief and Reconstruction.
The Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, has paid a solidarity visit to the Olubo of Obe-Nla Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Andrew Kolawole Ikuesan, following violent attacks that left several homes destroyed and residents injured across Obe-Nla, Obe-Adun, and Obe-Jedo communities.
Poroye, who led a delegation of the Commission’s Board and Management on an on-the-spot assessment tour, conveyed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s sympathy to the affected communities. He thanked God that no lives were lost in the incident.
“We give glory to God that there was no death,” Poroye said. “I appeal to Kabiyesi to continue to encourage our people to maintain peace, because peace is the main language that brings development.”
The Chairman assured residents that all damaged property would be compensated and that relief materials would be distributed to victims. He emphasized that the Governor Lucky Aiyedatowa State Government remains committed to the welfare and security of its citizens.
“The Governor is our son, we must rally around him. He is fully involved in resolving this matter, and we appreciate his leadership prowess.”
Poroye also commended Oba Ikuesan for his proactive role in managing the crisis and urged continued community engagement to prevent further conflict. He promised that more public orientation programmes would be introduced to promote peaceful coexistence.
During the visit, Poroye unveiled several upcoming OSOPADEC projects in Obe-Nla and other communities. He disclosed that the second and third phases of the Obe-Nla concrete walkway project would commence immediately under the directive of Governor Aiyedatiwa.
“In no distant time, Obe-Nla and other coastal communities will wear a completely new look,” Poroye assured.
He hinted that several transformative developmental projects that will redefine the community’s landscape are on the verge of commencement.
Poroye commended the people of Obe-Nla for their cooperation and support, saying that such unity and trust have continued to inspire the Commission’s determination to deliver impactful projects that will uplift the living standards of the people.
In his response, the Olubo of Obe-Nla Kingdom, HRM Oba Andrew Kolawole Ikuesan, described the timely visit by the OSOPADEC Chairman and his team as a huge blessing. He thanked the state government for its concern and appealed for swift intervention to help the victims rebuild their lives.
