Ondo Gubernatorial Poll: Esther Ebiwonjumi Defects from PDP to APC, Mobilizes Women in Okitipupa
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has received a significant boost ahead of the November 2024 governorship election. Esther Ebiwonjumi, a former chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Okitipupa, has led a considerable number of members to join the ruling APC.
Ebiwonjumi declared her support for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, during an event held in Okitipupa. At the gathering, she, along with many former PDP members and numerous women, pledged their allegiance to the APC and committed to ensuring the party’s victory in the upcoming election.
In her address, Ebiwonjumi stated that her decision was influenced by Governor Aiyedatiwa’s achievements in various sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, and the significant electrification project that ended fifteen years of darkness in the southern part of the state. She expressed her dedication to the success of the Aiyedatiwa administration and her intent to mobilize women across the Okitipupa local government area to vote en masse for the APC candidate.
Ebiwonjumi urged the local populace to support Aiyedatiwa, highlighting his promises to create jobs for the youth and provide loans to market women and small-scale businesses, fostering economic growth in the region.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr. Joshua Orogbemi Akintan, the HRH Oloja Alake of Osooro Kingdom, and former Ondo State House of Assembly member, Hon. Mr. Akinbusoye Niyi.
