ONDO ASSEMBLY COMMITTED OSOPADEC 2022 BILL TO RELEVANT COMMITTEES OF THE HOUSE & TAKE DELIVERY OF THE FIFTH ALTERATIONS TO FEDERATION LAWS OTHERS AND PASSED VOTE OF OF CONFIDENCE ON HON OLUWOLE OGUNMOLASUYI.
The House at its plenary sitting admitted the OSOPADEC Appropriation BILL 2022.
This followed a letter to that effect by Secretary to the State Government, Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu.
The bill conveys a total sum of Eleven Billion, Four Hundred and Sixteen Million, One Hundred and Four Thousand, Eight Hundred and Two Thousand as proposed amount to be spent by the OSOPADEC in the 2022 fiscal year.
Of the total amount, Three Billion, One Hundred and Fifteen Million, Four Hundred and Ninety Seven Thousand, One Hundred and Fifty Two Thousand Naira is to be spent as recurrent expenditure, while the sum of Eight Billion, Three Hundred Million, Six Hundred and Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira will be spent as capital expenditure.
The law establishing the Commission stipulates that forty percent of the thirteen percent mineral derivation should be statutorily transferred to the Commission.
While discussing the thrusts of the budget under motion, Chairman of the House Committee on OSOPADEC, Honourable Prince Abayomi Akinruntan highlighted its importance to the mandate areas hence the need for it’s accelerated passage. His position was corroborad by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Sunday Olajide. After serial debate on the budget, it was committed to the Joint House Committee on OSOPADEC & Committee on Finance and Appropriation for necessary scrutiny for submission of report within 2weeks
On the other hand The amended version of the Federation law 2022 has been transmitted to the Ondo State House of Assembly.
This was contained in a letter to the Ondo State House of Assembly, by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Ojo Olatunde Amos.
The Federation law, section 9(2) compels the approval of the House by a resolution.
The affected sections had earlier been adopted on Tuesday, 1st March, 2022, and Tuesday, 8th March, 2022, in the Senate and House of Representatives respectively.
The alterated sections include sections 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,20,21,22,25, 26,27,29,and 30.
Others are; sections 31, 32,33,39,40,41,43, 44,45,46, 46,47,48,49,50 and 51.
The amended versions of the bill also include sections 51, 52,53,54,55,57,58,62,63,65 and 66.
The bills were earlier passed by the Senate and House of Representatives and transmitted to the Houses of Assembly for further actions.
After necessary debates on the amended sections of the bill, it was committed to the Committee of the whole House.
Meanwhile the House at plenary condemned attack on the Majority Leader, Honourable Oluwole Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo State constituency 1, by hoodlums in his constituency.
Speaking under motion for adjournment, Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt Honourable Aderoboye Samuel said Honourable Ogunmolasuyi has done quite enough for his constituents not to warrant such an embarrassment.
While maintaining that Honourable Ogunmolasuyi has given quality representation to his constituents in the current assembly, the Deputy Speaker observed that political jobbers should look elsewhere to carry out their sponsored assignment
Aderoboye observed that this is a period for dirty politicking but called on politicians to shun blackmail in all it’s ramifications adding that the political landscape is big enough to accommodate any politician who might be willing to show interest in any political positions.
In his ruling, the Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Bamidele David Oleyelogun called on politicians to desist from action or acts that may lead to breakdown of law and order in the state ahead of the 2023 general election. Adding that such attack on any member of the house will not be tolerated.
The Speaker maintained that the Majority Leader is an outstanding member of the ninth assembly who spares nothing in the quality representation of his
constituents.
While noting that Ogunmolasuyi is a symbol of quality representation in the current assembly, the Speaker called on politicians in Ondo State to shun politics of bitterness.
The house also passed a vote of confidence on Hon Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi having performed excellent even as a first timer in the house. Mr Speaker also directed the security agencies to fish out those involve in the attack and be brought to face its consequence.
The House at plenary equally received a petition against the Osemawe of Ondo who was alleged to have unlawfully acquired the Liyetu community land.
The petition was committed to the House Committee on Judiciary and public petitions.
