On Wednesday, the leading aspirant in the forthcoming Ondo State gubernatorial primary elections of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, officially declares his ambition to become the next governor of the state.
Speaking at the party secretariat in Owo, in the presence of party stakeholders, the former lawmaker assured members of continued support and unrestricted access if and when chosen as the party flag bearer and elected as the Governor of Ondo State. Remembering and paying last respect to the former governor of the state, a great son of the kingdom, Akinfolarin eulogized Late ‘Rotimi Akeredolu for backing the creation of Western Nigerian Security Network codenamed ‘Amotekun’, building infrastructures and revamping primary education in the state.

Earlier, the campaign trail of Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin met with APC stakeholders in Ose Local Government at the Navy Captain Joseph Adedurotimi Adebisi Hall, Ifon, for the flag off and declaration of his governorship ambition. Welcomed by Chief Ladi Tenabe, the APC Chairman in Ose, the party stalwarts unanimously agreed to work for the success of Mayowa Akinfolarin at the primaries and the general polls. The chairman was supported by a former member of Ondo Assembly, Hon. Sola Oluyede, Hon. Adejuyan, Hon. Makanjuola, Chief Adekiya Olotu, all local government executives and their counterparts in the twelve wards of Ose local government area.
Addressing party faithful, Akinfolarin insisted on using local solutions to solve local problems. “Many aspirants and candidates hire professionals to draft ideas and agenda for them, the major reason they often fail to implement them. If you vote for me, I will use available local resources to establish industries across the state. Baba Ajasin founded Oluwa Glass in Igbokoda because of its proximity to fine sand. The Cocoa industry in IleOluji still stands today because the major primary material is abundant in the area. Ose is famous for its ceramic. We can become self sufficient if we tap into the resources in all corners of the state.”, he said.
Responding, the chairman of the APC ward chairmen in Ose, Hon. Nelson Adepoyigi, lamented the decay in local government administration. He urged the aspirant to allow the closest government to the people to work for them when elected.
Rt. Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin was accompanied by Hon. Timehin Adelegbe, member representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.
