Ondo 2020 : Pro- Adelami Group canvasses Two Terms For Ondo North
A group of professionals from Ondo North Senatorial district with the name of Ondo North Professionals in Politics (OPYP) have advised all aggrieved members of All Progressive Congress in Ondo State to allow Ondo North complete its two terms if they really want to ease out Governor Rotimi Akeredolu from office.
The group made this assertion on Wednesday during an interview with the Coordinator of OPYP, Engr. Ambali Amuda. He said that the only way that the people of Ondo North could choose to vote against Governor Akeredolu was for the district to be allowed to serve out its two terms through another person from the same district.
Amuda further said that Ondo North has always been on the side of the progressives since the return to democracy in 1999. He added that inasmuch as the other two districts reserve the right to aspire for the highest office in Ondo State, he however, advised that the people of Ondo North would feel short changed if not allowed to complete
their two terms like the other two senatorial districts of Ondo Central and Ondo South.
He also charged all the contestants that are eyeing the Alagbaka office on the platform of APC not to dissipate their human and material resources which may turn out to the advantage of Governor Akeredolu.
“The three districts cannot produce just one governor at the same time. But, it is only reasonable to allow the people of Ondo North to produce another person if they are expected to vote against their own son who is the incumbent governor. The best adoptable strategy to remove Akeredolu from office is for all the aggrieved members of APC across the state to join forces and support someone else from same Ondo North”.
Meanwhile, Amuda has described the former Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami as the man to beat in the APC gubernatorial primary election. He also described Adelami as the best strategic option for all the aggrieved APC members in Ondo State.
“Aside the fact of sound leadership acumen and good name
of Adelami, he is also from Owo and has really touched a lot of lives through his philanthropic activities in Ondo State,”
Similarly, Amuda assured during the interview that the APC primary election will hold contrary to the right of first refusal that is being sought by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Amuda added that he was confident that Adelami has sufficient insider presence in the presidency to neutralize any scheme by Akeredolu which may confer undue advantage on him.
However, Amuda emphasized in the interview that Adelami was already
halfway through to become the next governor of Ondo State going by the political structures he had emplaced across the 18 local government areas through the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) of APC.
He also decried the fact that far too many members of APC in Ondo State are aggrieved as a result of the selfish and clannish political style of Governor Akeredolu. Amuda likewise condemned in strong terms what he described as government for the governor of Ondo State, his family and members of his inner circle.
“We urgently need someone like Adelami who has what it takes to pacify and reconcile aggrieved members of APC. Naturally, any party member that is either frustrated or sidelined after working for the party’s victory must feel aggrieved. The situation is being badly managed in Ondo State and we cannot just continue this way,” added Amuda.
