To honour these remarkable milestones, the Oloru 10th Coronation Central Working Committee has meticulously planned a series of activities that will engage the community, pay tribute to the monarch’s reign, and foster unity and pride among the people.
The Oloru of Oru, Oba (Dr.) Abdur-Razaq Olufemi Adebanjo has been a revered and beloved leader, guiding the Oru community with wisdom, compassion, and dedicated service for the past ten years. His reign has witnessed significant progress, development, and harmonious coexistence among the people. As the custodian of tradition and gatekeeper of cultural heritage, Oloru of Oru’s leadership has played a pivotal role in maintaining the community’s identity and values.
To commemorate this exceptional milestone, the Oloru 10th Coronation Central Working Committee has put together an exciting and inclusive program of activities that reflect the accomplishments, aspirations, and reverence for Oba Adebanjo’s reign. These activities will take place throughout one week and will ensure the active participation of community members of all ages.
The celebration will begin with a colourful Coronation Anniversary and Birthday Opening Ceremony, where esteemed guests, community dignitaries, and well-wishers will pay homage to Oloru of Oru. This auspicious occasion will include ceremonial rituals, traditional performances showcasing Oru’s cultural heritage, and heartfelt speeches highlighting Oloru of Oru’s contributions and achievements.
The Planning Committee has carefully arranged a series of activities that encapsulate the essence of Oloru of Oru’s reign and the aspirations of the community. Some notable events include:
1. Thursday, 26/10/23:
– Beating of Gbedu Drums: This activity will take place around Oru Town and will symbolize the vibrant culture of the community.
– Woro Dance round Oru Town: Palace
2. Friday, 27/10/23:
– Conferment of Baale titles on deserving community heads: The Oloru of Oru, His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr.) Abdur-Razaq Olufemi Adebanjo will bestow Baale titles on individual heads of some quarters who have made significant contributions to the community. The ceremony will take place at Oloru Palace.
– Jumat Service: A special Friday prayer service for the Muslim members of the community at the Central Mosque, Oru.
– Commemorative Football Match for Anniversaries: A football match to celebrate important anniversaries will take place at the Refugee Camp.
3. Saturday, 28/10/23:
– Grand Finale: The grand finale of the festivities will take place at Sagun United Pry School, Oru Ijebu where the conferment of Chieftaincy titles on deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to the community by the Oloru of Oru, His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr.) Abdur-Razaq Olufemi Adebanjo. The grand finale will also feature various performances, displays, and entertainment.
4. Sunday, 29/10/23:
– Thanksgiving Service: A Thanksgiving service will be held at St. Luke’s Ang. Church to express gratitude for the successful celebrations and to seek blessings for the community.
