ODSG CALLS FOR REGULATION OF APP-BASED TRANSPORTERS
The Ondo State Government has called on the App- based transporters of Nigeria, Ondo State chapter to adhere to regulations establishing their operations in the state.
Welcoming the app-based transport organisation to his office in Akure, the Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Transport, Hon. Olugbenga Omole charged them to ensure that their operations are carried out responsibly bearing in mind the regulations allowing them to operate in the state. This will ensure the comfort and security of users as well as the operators in the state.
Hon. Omole eulogised the coming onboard of the organisation as a welcome development, which would make commuting easier for people living in Ondo State.
He acknowledged that their service is a welcome addition to the development of the state and assured them of the support from the government in providing the enabling environment for their business to grow.
Also, speaking, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport, Mr Olufemi Aladenola urged the transporters to notify the Ministry about their operations in the state, by making data available to the ministry such as membership of the organisation and numbers of vehicles in operation for security purposes. He promised that the ministry is ready to collaborate with the organisation after all necessary steps are taken.
Responding on behalf of the association, Comrade Sina Ayo Badmus said app- based transporters of Nigeria Ondo state chapter are happy to visit the office of the Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Transportation, to congratulate him on his appointment and to intimate him on some of the challenges been faced by the transporters. He cited examples of attacks on operators and theft of vehicles as part of the challenges they are facing.
He also promised to register the organisation with the Ondo State Ministry of Transport and also provide all necessary information needed about every member of the organisation while urging the state government to help in surmounting these challenges.
