A socio-political group, the Oodua Action Movement (OAM) has sent out a strong warning to the Federal government that any attempt to arrest Chief Sunday Igboho by Security operatives will be fiercely resisted by the Yoruba nation.
It was gathered that Chief Igboho, a Yoruba activist was accosted by security operatives attached to Operation Burst while on his way to Lagos
In a statement signed by the OAM Global Coordinator, Otunba Demola Edward yesterday condemned the attempt to ambush and arrest Chief Igboho by the Police and Department of Security Services operatives as he has never committed any crime.
Edward however warned the Federal government not to arrest Chief Sunday Igboho saying that despite all the nefarious activities by the Killer Fulani Herdsmen in the country particularly in the South West, President Mohammadu Buhari has not deemed it fit to arrest and prosecute them.
“This action of the Security Operatives is condemnable in totality and not acceptable. And let it be known to the people at the helm of affairs in this country that we will not fold our arms while innocent citizens in the South West are being harrassed and molested just for exercising their fundamental human right”
“Sunday Igboho is a human rights activist and not a bandit and he will never be like those killer bandits being pampered under the administration of President Buhari. It is rather unfortunate that Chief Igboho was ordered to be arrested – surely we will resist it!
“What President Mohammadu Buhari should be thinking and concentrate on now is how to expedite action on the demand of the group for autonomy of Yoruba Nation which would enable the region to manage its resources and develop at its own pace.
“There is no gain saying that Nigeria has descended deeper into crisis especially under the present administration. The only enduring solution to the myriads of problems in this country lies in each of the nationalities having control over its resources.
Pointedly, there is need for self determination of Yoruba Nation that would guarantee speed and monumental development of the Region”, he added.
