NIDSUG Extol Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Advices Ilaje Groups to Stop Malicious Attack on the Lawmaker

Leaders of the Niger Delta Student Union Government ( NIDSUG) has issued a press release commending the Lawmaker representing Akoko North East/ West Federal Constituency, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo who is also the House Committee Chairman on NDDC.The group through its president,Comr N-epba Goodness also responded to the statement credited to some groups from Ilaje/Ese-Odo region of Ondo State against the Lawmaker , accusing him of only influencing projects in his Constituency, abandoning the core mandate areas of Ilaje, know to be the oil prone areas.According to president,” BTO is first elected to represent his Constituency, and it’s obvious even to the blind that he is discharging his duty with Perfection, ranging from the sons and daughters of his Constituency that he has elevated from poverty through his philanthropic and empowerment initiative, to the various Developmental projects he has attracted to his People.” He also highlighted some, among the numerous projects of the federal Lawmaker, among which are; Areagbe to Afin Akoko road, Arigidi to Okeagbe, Semu Semu to Arigidi, Igbede Oyinmo to Okoja in Akare, State Hospital to Ugbe in Ikare, He also mentioned some of the empowerment projects of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo which are, Presentation of Cars to the Nigerian Police Force ( NPF), Presentation of Cars to over 20 Youths, Presentation of Brand New Buses for first class Oba in his Constituency, Donation of 20 Million naira Cash to Market Women in his Constituency, building of 5 Classroom in each LGA of his ConstituencyThe group further stated that Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been diligent and fair in the discharge of his duties, in the words of the national president,” Allegations that BTO only concentrated projects in his Constituency is a product of ignorance or calculated attempt to score cheap Political points by enemies of Progress. It only shows that the authors of the Malicious release are not acquainted with the workings of the National Assembly.””BTO doesn’t reserve the prerogative to decide which and where Projects are sited in the Niger Delta Region, rather discharges his Representative and Oversight functions inline with obtainable best practices enshrined in our constitution. This oversight function had been rightly carried out by him and his Committee, as displayed by their bold and proactive investigation in October 2020 that unraveled many dirty dealings in the NDDC and has brought the Commission back on track today. This reputable act earned BTO NIDSUG MAN OF THE YEAR 2020.”They also stated through the president that,”BTO has proven his Love for the region by extending his kind gestures beyond his immediate Constituency, and the Niger Delta Indigenes are benefitting from his philanthropic personality. We know many Ilaje Indigenes working with BTO as Appointees, just as we know so many other of his appointees from other parts of the Niger Delta Region and Nigeria at large.”The National President of NIDSUG, N- epba Goodness also explained that it has become a sad event that few individuals are bent on maligning the good image of a Brand and one that is ordained by God to be a blessing to his people. He also added,”the bitter truth is that all oil Producing communities in the Niger Delta region are prone with the common challenges of neglect, especially when we know that Nigeria had earmarked 13% derivatives for oil Producing communities and this are remitted to our State Governments.” “Also, in December 2020, the 4th Council meeting of the Niger Delta held in Portharcourt and different Memorandums on the way forward for the oil Producing communities in the Niger Delta were submitted by different groups, and we didnt see any of the Ilaje groups submit their wearies. The Leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) ably Led by the Interim Administrator, Mr. Effiong Akwa is now entertaining Complaints, suggestions, and way forward from well meaning Niger Deltans, we are also not hearing from this groups accordingly.”Comrade N- epba Goodness enjoined members of the general public to shy away from targeting an innocent man, who is not responsible for the alleged neglect of the Region.He stated,” we advice you to channel your energies to the appropriate quarters for effective and expedient actions.
