Akeem Temitope Akilo, a distinguished human rights activist, astute politician, and renowned public communicator, was born on January 24, 1979, to a veteran soldier.
His mother, Mrs Adesola Akilo (née Odugbesan), hails from the esteemed Odugbesan family (of Sunday Odugbesan, also known as Baba Awushon) in Itun-Olugbala, Ishowe. His grandmother was from the respected Odumosu family in Imuku.
During his formative years, Akeem Temitope Akilo spent a significant period of his secondary school education under the care and guidance of his grandmother, Iye Seyi, in Itun-Olugbala, Ishowe, in Ijebu North East Local Government Area. This experience had a profound impact on his life, as his grandmother’s wisdom, love, and support played a crucial role in shaping his values and personality.
Akeem Temitope Akilo is currently employed with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), where he serves as a Senior Traffic and Commercial Officer (STCO) in the Department of Operations and Commercial (O & C). In this role, he leverages his expertise to optimize traffic and commercial operations, contributing to the corporation’s growth and success.
Before his current endeavours, Akeem Temitope Akilo held key roles within the Ogun State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He served as the:
- Administrative Officer (A.O) of the Ogun State PDP
- Personal Assistant (P.A) to the State Chairman of the PDP (2014-2016)

He then attended Moslem Comprehensive High School in Imepe, Ijebu Ode, for his secondary education between 1992 and 1998.
Furthering his academic pursuits, Akilo enrolled at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, where he earned a degree in Guidance and Counselling/Education. This solid educational foundation has equipped him for his future endeavours.
Following the completion of his university education, Akeem Temitope Akilo embarked on his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in 2010. He was assigned to Adiaha-Obong Girls Secondary School, located in Ikot-Imo, Ikot Edibon, within the Nsit Ubium Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom State. During his service year, Akilo dedicated himself to serving the community, honing his skills, and gaining valuable experience that has shaped his future endeavours.
During his university years, Akeem Temitope Akilo was an active member of “The Activist Forum” (A-Forum), a pioneering student organization dedicated to promoting student rights and youth empowerment. As part of this revolutionary group, Akilo joined forces with fellow student activists to champion the cause of freedom and social justice on campus, fostering a spirit of resistance and advocacy that continues to inspire his work today.
As a student-activist, Akeem Temitope Akilo held various leadership positions and contested several elections, including:

In the social sphere, Comrade Akeem Temitope Akilo is an active member and serves as the Publicity Secretary of Egbe Obayori Okunrin (Asiwaju) Akile Ijebu, a prestigious traditional age grade comprising Ijebu sons born between 1977 and 1979. This esteemed group was formally recognized with a royal proclamation by His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, J.P, Ogbagba II, the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland.
Akeem Akilo is also a member of the Lions Club International, specifically the Ijebu Ode Lions Club, which falls under Region 5, District 404/A1, Nigeria. ✓He was appointed as “Member of Media And Publicity Sub-Committee of Ogun State APC Campaign Council for the 2023 general electioneering campaign under the leadership of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, as the Chairman, Ogun APC Campaign Council, Distinguished Senator Lekan Mustapha as the Director General, Ogun APC Campaign Council and Alhaji Waheed Odusile as the Chairman Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of the Campaign Council.
In this role, Akilo leveraged his expertise to support the party’s campaign efforts and promote its vision for a better Nigeria.
