In Ogun, Police Foil Robbery Operation, Nab Two

“Clear conscience fears no accusation”, according to an old but very relevant saying. This relates to two robbery suspects, who were not in any way in the watch list of policemen in Ogun State. But because they knew their activities were criminally minded, mere sighting of policemen threw them off balance and sent cold shivers down their spines. They took off, an action that aroused the curiosity and suspicion of the detectives who went after them. Behold, they were on a robbery mission.
According to a press release made available to Crime Puzzle, the duo of Odukoya Ayomide and. Abiodun Oyenuga, both 32, were on a motorcycle along Awa ijebu/ Ijebu Ode Expressway on August 25, 2020, when they suddenly sighted a patrol van, jumped down from the bike and took to their heels, an action that gave them out as suspects.
The patrol team, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Awa-Ijebu, CSP Adewalehinmi Joseph, resorted to chasing them and succeeded in arresting one identified as Odukoya Ayomide, from whom a locally-made cut-to-size double barrel gun was recovered.
The second suspect, Abiodun Oyenuga, who escaped through a nearby bush, was later apprehended through useful information by the earlier arrested member.
On interrogation, Adewalehinmi disclosed to the Investigating Police Officer (IPO), that Abiodun invited him from Ijebu-Ode for a robbery operation and that “they were just goiin to carry out the operation when they ran into the police team”.
The PPRO hinted that the second suspect, Abiodun, was nabbed three days into investigation by policemen from Sagamu, where he had gone to hiding.
Consequently, however, the state Commissioner of Police, Edward A. Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) for discreet investigation.
The statement further quited the CP to have warned those criminally minded persons in the state to take a new leaf or run elsewhere as the Command would make it too hot for them under his watch.
