Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation Distances Itself from Femi Ikoyi’s Switch to SDP
The Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation, led by its principal, Engr. Ife Oyedele, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former aspirant in the 2024 APC governorship primary has clarified its non-association with Mr. Femi Ikoyi and his group’s recent defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). This statement comes amidst growing speculations linking Engr. Oyedele and the Campaign Organisation to Mr. Ikoyi’s decision to switch parties.
In a statement released to the press on Thursday by the Publicity Director of the group, Yomi Adebayo, the Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation addressed the rumours, stating unequivocally that neither the Organisation nor its principal, Engr. Ife Oyedele has any involvement in Mr. Ikoyi’s move to the SDP. It emphasized that Mr. Ikoyi, who was an associate of Engr. Oyedele during his governorship campaign, is an independent politician capable of making his own decisions without external influence.
“We want to make it clear that the Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation has no connection with Femi Ikoyi’s recent decision to join the SDP. While we worked together during the governorship campaign, it is imperative to understand that Mr. Ikoyi is an adult and an independent politician who has the right to make his own choices. His decision to move to the SDP is entirely his own and does not reflect the views or intentions of Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation or our principal, Engr Ife Oyedele,” the statement said.
The Campaign Organisation also addressed concerns that Engr. Oyedele’s past association with the SDP’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Erelu Gbemisola Susan, had led some to believe that he orchestrated the defection. “It has also come to our attention that certain individuals have assumed our involvement in Mr. Ikoyi’s move due to our principal’s previous association with the deputy governorship candidate of the SDP. We want to categorically state that this is not the case. The entire Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation and our principal, Engr. Ife Oyedele, remain firmly committed to the APC, and we have no affiliation with any ongoing political activities outside of the APC,” the statement added.
The Ife Oyedele Campaign Organisation further reiterated its loyalty to the APC and its leadership, expressing its determination to continue working towards the party’s success in the upcoming governorship election. It urged all party members and supporters to remain focused and united in the pursuit of their common goals.
