The honorable task of advancing and developing Africans can only be done and achieved by Africans themselves.
It’s the noble task for indigenous African men and women to find it honorable to commit themselves to ensuring that the continent takes its right place on the global stage and when we find men who have committed themselves to this cause, they must be celebrated and applauded.
We live in an era where many Africans have taken to embrace the ideals of individualism over communalism, hence the African progress have been jeopardize and less fueled.
The words of the great African Scholar, J.S Mbiti stated, ” I am because you are and because you are , therefore I am” this statement brings to the fore the true beauty of the African continent, which traditional prides itself in the communal values and collective efforts of Africans to give ourselves a sense of belonging, making our reality a better place to live.
This is the motivating factor behind the drive of the Voice Achievers Award, Gambia to honor distinguished Africans who have excelled in pushing and contributing greatly to the advancement of the African continent.
This year, is to shine the spotlight on The Gambia by bringing together Africans and Friends of Africa from all over the world, to harness the unique potential of Gambia and Africa, celebrating our common African heritage and exploring ways to advance the good of Africa as we recognize our budding men and women across the continent who are progressively changing lives on a daily basis throughout the length and breadth of Africa.
This year’s Awards, themed: “Reinventing Africa’s future through participation” (Sharing inspiring African Stories – Diaspora Connections).
The 2022 Award ceremony, the 12th in our history, will be honouring men and women of African descent, and friends of Africa from the 18th to the 20th of August 2022. His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, President of the Gambia is billed to receive The Voice Achievers’ Icon of Democracy Award 2022. Other notable awardees include Dr Mrs. Fatima Maada Bio, First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Winner of African Woman of the year 2022 and Engineer Ifeoluwa Olusola Oyedele, the African Man of the year 2022.
It’s worthy to note that the ever amiable and highly respected Engr. Ife Oyedele will be among the awardees who will be taking the center stage as he is honored alongside other worthy recipients of these noble award.
Engr. Ife Oyedele, Executive Director, (Network) Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, Nigeria would be awarded the African Man of the Year, 2022, this development only brings to the fore his salient contributions to our collective dream of having a better reality.
His work speaks highly of him, his person and his sterling profile precedes his name. And it’s such a pleasant development to see men like him been honored.
It would also go a long way in motivating others to borrow a leaf from their exemplary lifestyle to do better for themselves and the larger society.
