Contrary to the news going round that the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prophet) Oleyelogun Bamidele and others have case to answer over the alleged mispropriation of 2.4 million naira belonging to the State Assembly, the counsel to the defendants, Barrister Femi Emodamori, has described such news as untrue, devilish and figment of imagination from the pit of hell.
According to him, the ruling only states that the court has jurisdiction to hear the matter and did not say that the defendants have a case to answer since the matter is yet to commence.
“It is laughable that some people can be going around to say that the defendants have a case to answer”,he said.
The defendants had earlier in their preliminary objection asked the court to decline the jurisdiction and strike out the charges against them, saying that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) lacked the power to prosecute them.
