Two-term federal lawmaker who represented the Ile-Oluji Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency between 2015 and 2023 has congratulated the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on the occasion of his two years in office.

In a statement issued on Friday, Akinfolarin commended the minister for his exceptional performance and transformative leadership, describing him as a worthy representative of the people of Ondo State who has made the state and the entire South West region proud.

According to Akinfolarin, Tunji-Ojo’s tenure has been marked by visionary policies, technological innovations and a strong commitment to service delivery that align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been an exemplary leader whose dedication and capacity have brought a new face to the Ministry of Interior,” Akinfolarin said. “He has made us proud as sons and daughters of Ondo State. Through his tireless efforts, he has demonstrated that governance can truly be about innovation, efficiency and the welfare of the people.”

Highlighting some of Tunji-Ojo’s achievements, Akinfolarin praised the digitalization of services in the Ministry of Interior, especially the introduction of a seamless, contactless application process for international passports, which has significantly reduced corruption and made access easier for Nigerians globally.

He also lauded the minister’s swift action in clearing the passport backlog, with over 217,000 passports printed and collected under his leadership.

“His reforms in the correctional centres, particularly the renovation of the Kuje Correctional Centre to meet international standards, reflect his commitment to improving the country’s justice and correctional systems,” Akinfolarin noted.

The former lawmaker further commended Tunji-Ojo’s focus on enhancing emergency response times, with efforts aimed at ensuring fire service response within 15 minutes, as well as his deployment of technology to strengthen Nigeria’s border security.

Akinfolarin added, “Tunji-Ojo’s tenure has not only transformed service delivery within the ministry but has also repositioned Nigeria’s image in the global space. He has shown accountability, innovation and leadership, which are the true pillars of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He concluded by wishing the minister greater success in the years ahead, expressing confidence that his visionary leadership will continue to bring positive changes to Nigeria.
