*FOLLOW THE FOOT STEPS OF AYEDATIWA BY REPLICATING PRIORITY FOR WORKERS’ WELFARE – (Obaya charges Public Service Cooperative Society Executives)
The President of Ondo State Micro Finance Departmental Cooperative Union (ODSMFDU), Pastor Obaya Michael Adebowale, who is also the Executive Director of the Heart of Care Foundation (HECAF), has charged all the Presidents and management committee members of the Cooperative Societies in the State to prioritize the welfare of their members and follow the good example of Mr. Governor.
While commending the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for prioritizing workers welfare, especially regular payment of workers salary and prompt release of salary deductions to Cooperative Societies in the Public Service, Pastor Obaya emphasized that it is an act of wickedness for any committee member to mismanage the hard earned savings of their members and dash their hope when they fall on the Cooperative Societies to obtain loans.
Speaking at a one-day Seminar organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Services, in collaboration with the Ondo State Cooperative Federation (ODSCOFED) for Higher Institutions, Local Government Areas, Teachers, Federal and State Ministries, Departments and Agencies’ Cooperative Societies, Pastor Obaya praised the State Governor for being workers’ friendly. He also noted that the Ayedatiwa philosophy of people’s welfare has not been limited to the public service alone when one considers the current energetic movement of the Governor in providing enduring infrastructure and security initiatives in the State. Obaya further noted that in this manner, committee members should hold the interest of their members in high esteem.
In his keynote address at the occasion, the Hon. Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Services, Pastor Adebola Ademuwagun, cautioned against activities capable of bringing setbacks to sustainable cooperative development in the State. He disclosed that the Cooperative Union for MDAs has been repositioned for more effective and efficient performance in the State, and all MDA’s Cooperative Societies are enjoined to affiliate with the Union. The Commissioner further noted that Governor Ayedatiwa is not relenting in making life better not only for the Workers but all the good people of Ondo State.
Welcoming participants to the event, the ODSCOFED President, High Chief Samuel Olorungbeja, assured them that the seminar, with the theme “Effective financial management for sustainable cooperative development”, would mark a significant milestone in our collective journey towards strengthening our cooperative movement and promoting economic development in our great State.
In his final response Pastor Obaya, urged Cooperative Leaders present to deceminate the knowledge gained at the Seminar to others Leaders who were unavoidably absent.
Obaya who hails from Ipe Akoko in Akoko South East is the State Director of Continuing Education, as well as the Chairman Education Committee of ODSCOFED in Ondo State.
