The Nigerian Academy of Engineering’s decision to confer the prestigious Fellowship upon Engr. Ife Oyedele marks a significant milestone in the distinguished career of a visionary leader, consummate professional, and champion of engineering excellence. With a career spanning over four decades, Engr. Oyedele has consistently demonstrated unwavering dedication, exceptional expertise, and a passion for innovation, leaving an indelible mark on the engineering landscape.
From his early days as a pupil engineer at DAFEC Consultants, Engr. Oyedele has exhibited a steadfast commitment to integrity, good governance, and societal betterment. His impressive career trajectory includes various leadership positions, notably his role as Executive Director at Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, where he served with distinction for four years. Additionally, his tenure as Chairman of Ondo State Power Company Limited highlighted his extensive expertise in engineering, management, manufacturing, construction, and business ventures.
Engr. Oyedele’s contributions to the engineering profession are profound, particularly in the realms of power systems, distribution, and transmission. His technical acumen and leadership have established him as a pivotal figure in the industry. His influence extends beyond technical prowess; he is revered as a mentor and inspiration to many. His professional recognitions include being a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), a Registered Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Risk Management Society of Nigeria (FRMN), a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (FNIEEE), and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Power Engineers (FNIPE).
Beyond his professional achievements, Engr. Oyedele has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to public service and political engagement. His significant roles include serving on the APC Constitution Drafting Sub-committee and the APC Constitution Review Committee, and chairing the Oyo State Congress Appeals Committee in 2014. His political involvement extended to being the Ondo State Coordinator for the Buhari Campaign Organisation and the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, as well as a member of the Presidential Campaign Councils in both 2015 and 2019. Appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari, Engr. Oyedele was instrumental in the CPC Merger Committee, playing a crucial role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
