The highly proactive Lawmaker on the Wednesday, 19th of May 2021 presented two bills seeking to amend the Mineral and Mining and the Tertiary Education Trust Acts.
The Bills which passed the first reading at the floor of the House seeks to ensure the full incorporation of colleges of Agriculture in the funding of Tertiary Institutions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND).
The institution has been left out of the funding usually provided by TETFUND to other public institutions in Nigeria while the second Bill seeks to amend the Mineral and Mining Act in a bid to attract Foreign Direct Investment through a well-articulated and coordinated incentive to prospective investors.
Amongst other reasons, it also seek an aggressive exploration and exploitation of abundant solid minerals to reignite manufacturing industries in creating jobs for the youths.
The lawmaker has received several commendation for his recent move; as it’s been stated by many social commentators that the bill when passed into law will go a long way in ensuring the effectiveness and productivity of the two involved institution.
