His educational journey began at Christ the King School in Port Harcourt, leading to a West African School Certificate from Government Secondary School, Borokiri. Driven by a deep-seated desire to transform his homeland, he pursued a Bachelor of Science in Political and Administrative Studies from the University of Port Harcourt, followed by advanced degrees culminating in a Ph.D. in Development Studies.
Dr. Ogbuku’s career is a testament to his dedication to public service and development. From serving as Personal Assistant to the Special Assistant to the Minister of State for Petroleum to his role as Chief of Staff in the Bayelsa State Government House, he has amassed invaluable experience in governance and administration. His tenure as Managing Director/CEO of Fulfilled Farms Nigeria Limited further highlights his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to agricultural development.
Upon assuming leadership at the NDDC, Dr. Ogbuku’s immediate focus was on addressing long-standing infrastructural deficits. Under his guidance, the NDDC has constructed and rehabilitated over 5,141.3 kilometers of roads, 42 bridges, and 87 jetties across the region. Signature projects, such as the Ogbia-Nembe Road in Bayelsa and the Ibeno Bridge in Akwa Ibom, stand as testaments to his leadership and dedication.
Healthcare, a critical concern in the Niger Delta, has seen significant improvements under Dr. Ogbuku’s stewardship. The NDDC has constructed 142 health centers equipped with modern facilities and resumed a free healthcare program that has provided 20,000 surgeries, attended to 45,000 patients, and distributed essential medical supplies. This initiative underscores Dr. Ogbuku’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access for rural communities.
Education and youth empowerment are pivotal to Dr. Ogbuku’s vision for the Niger Delta. The NDDC’s Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship Programme has benefited 2,323 students, while numerous schools have been rehabilitated and educational materials distributed to foster learning.
