The Executive Director of Networks in Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele FNSE, FRMN, FIPAN has been rightfully selected to give the 15th DEEEAL lecture organized by the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE). The event is billed to hold in Abuja on November 8, 2021.
The specialised lecture is tagged Distinguished Electrical and Electronic Engineer Annual Lecture (DEEEAL). Organizers of the lecturer settled for the choice of Engr. Ife Oyedele after the successful hosting of the International Conference and Exhibition on Power and Telecommunications (ICEPT) earlier this year.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Executive Secretary of NIEEE, Engr. Simeon Isibor, it was stated that the DEEEA will confer Engr. Oyedele a distinct honour of presenting a well researched, topical and nationalistic lecture. The audience is expected to comprise of the top echelon of engineers, managers, captains of industries and executives from various sectors of the economy, including the government.
The statement further stated that the DEEEAL is considered as the pinnacle of achievement by an Electrical Electronic Engineer and Oyedele would be joining a selected group of past lecturers having exceeded all criteria used in the selection process. The lecture is however expected to be preceded with the conferment of the Institute’s fellowship on Engr. Ife Oyedele
The choice of Ife Oyedele truly reflects putting a round peg in a round hole as he is eminently qualified to join past lecturers of the institute. He has proven himself over the years as a trained engineer with extensive experience both as a field engineer and a manager of engineering processes and companies. He has also garnered valuable cognate experience in the different areas of the engineering profession over the decades.
The 63 year old Ife Oyedele was born at Igodan-Lisa in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. He is deftly skilled in
engineering process design and management. He is equally extremely skilled in the management of people and process to achieve set and profitable objectives. Oyedele possess excellent communication and negotiation skills. He also possesses vision articulation and strategic planning skills.
The Electrical Engineering graduate of University of Lagos assumed office in the month of August, 2020 as the Executive Director in charge of Networks at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited. He is basically responsible for the planning and development of policy guideline and implementation of strategies. He also handles for the company the planning and execution of transmission and distribution projects as well as the development and seeking of alternative project funding and partnerships amongst other responsibilities.
He is the Chairman of Ondo State Power Company Limited and also sits on the Board of Sunshine Food Processing Concept Limited as a Non-Executive Director. This subsisting appointment was made in July 2020 by the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu. The company is a Public – Private
Partnership (PPP) between Ondo State Government and Imperium Capital Plc. Engr. Oyedele is presently serving as the chairman of the Project Committee of the Board.
The UNILAG alumnus had earlier served from September 1, 2016 to August 25, 2020 as the Executive Director in charge of Engineering and Technical Services at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited. During this time, he handled the supervision and monitoring of power generation, transmission and distribution projects for the company. He likewise handled the development and seeking of alternative project funding and partnerships as well as the planning and development of phase II projects amongst other responsibilities for the company.
Engr. Oyedele served as the Managing Director of
a Lagos based engineering company, Matcom Limited from 1992 to August 2016. He was basically responsible for setting the company’s business and strategic agenda as well as getting engaged in financial and human capital of the company as necessary to achieve set goals. He also handled the monitoring of the company’s profitability and resource utilization efficiency amongst other responsibilities.
Similarly, Ife Oyedele had worked as the Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of Rikmor International Limited from 1990 to 1992. He was responsible for setting the business and strategic agenda of the Lagos based company. He also handled for the company the process of contracts negotiations and procurement of off-shore materials. He equally handled the scheduling and allocation of jobs as well as setting work and behavioural standards amongst other duties for the company.
Earlier, Ife Oyedele had worked as an Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of Gambill Builders Nigeria Limited from1989 to 1990. Also, he worked as a Consultant Engineer with with another Lagos based company,
Edison Group & Partners from 1988 to1989. He similarly worked as a Sales Manager with another Lagos State based company, Dynapower Nigeria Limited from 1987 to 1988.
Intellectual Oyedele had delivered several lectures that bothered on core professionalism. In the early part of year 2021, Engr. Oyedele showed brilliance, intellectual class and brilliance during an Engineering symposium held at the NAF conference and event centre. The lecture was brilliantly titled “Re Imagining Engineering Ethics and Building Better”.
He was again the guest lecturer
during the 2020 National Space
Dialogue and Media Conference on Space Science and Technology organized by the National Space Research and Development Agency. The lecture was titled “Deterring Corruption and Improving Governance in the Electricity Sector in Nigeria: NDPHC in Focus”.
Engr. Oyedele was likewise a guest lecturer during the 6th Annual General Meeting of the Abuja Chapter of The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 2018. The lecture was titled “Revitalization of Energy Sector for Infrastructural Development”. Also, he delivered a special lecture in 2018 during the inaugural and investiture ceremony of the Nigerian Institution of Power Engineers in Abuja. The lecture was titled “The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry – Challenges and
Way Forward”.
Oyedele was a guest lecturer during the Second 2017 Distinguished Engineers Lecture (DEL 2017) of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Akure branch where he delivered a lecture titled “Power Infrastructure Development as a Panacea for
Industrial Revolution in a Change Environment”.
He also delivered a lecture titled “Professionalism in the Banking Industry and How to Further Improve on Banking Services” at the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) in 2015. He gave another lecture, “Community Development & Nation Building: A Critical Appraisal” for Fellows and Associates of Nite in 1993.
He is a member of several professional bodies that include fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE); fellow, Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers and
fellow, Risk Managers Society of Nigeria. Ife Oyedele is also a fellow, Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria; fellow, Nigerian Institution of Power Engineers; member, Institute of Directors; member, University of Lagos Alumni Association and nember, Strategic Planning Committee of University of Lagos. The highly cerebral Oyedele had also attended several professional courses and seminars one of which is Lagos Business School in 2002 where he undertook Company Direction Course.
The integrity driven Oyedele is a philanthropist who is committed to giving economic lifelines to vulnerable Nigerians of different tribes and genders. He is equally disposed to the idea of progressive improvement in every facet of the nation’s economy and in social lives of the citizens.
The seasoned technocrat belongs to different social clubs and also nurtures different social interests. He has been a member of Ikoyi Club from 1992 till date. He was Premises Adviser in Ikoyi Club from 2012 to 2013. He belongs to other golf clubs that include IBB International Golf, and Country Club, Abuja; Harrow Park Golf Club, Abuja; member and Smokin Hills Golf Resort, Ondo State.
Oyedele also belongs to other clubs that include International Association of Lions Clubs, District 404 where he served as the club’s secretary from 1990 to 1992. He is a member of Maryland Club and served as the club’s zonal chairman from 1998 to 1999 as well as the Leo Advisor from 1996 to 1997. He was the Chairman, District Directory from 1993 to 1994 and had earlier served as the president of the club from 1993 to 1995. Before then, Oyedele had served as the Vice President and secretary of same Maryland Club.
Ifeoluwa is also a member of the
University of Lagos Alumni Society
where he served as a member of the Association Building Committee from 2012 to 2014. He was made the National Social Secretary of the association from 2002 to 2003 and also served as an
ex-officio member. Engr. Oyedele is also a member of Yoruba Council of Elders and was in 2002 made the Founding Secretary of Planning Committee.
