Our interest and agitation are and that of other well meaning Ilajes and Ondo State indigene for good governance, fairness and equity and to have a credible and forthright Ondo State indigene irrespective of ethnic background to occupy any of the Executive positions in the Commission. We have been on this for 21years!
Our various agitations stem from the fundamentals of the NDDC Act which gives component states in the Commission equal opportunity to benefit from the rotational arrangement of the Commission’s Executive positions according to the quantum of production.
Ondo State have been denied any of the three top positions in spite of various constitutional demands.
However, in the recent nomination into the NDDC Board, President Mohamadu Buhari has demonstrated again as a man known for his fairness, justice and the Rule of Law, positively activated the NDDC Act by listening to the demand and agitations of the people of Ondo State and gracefully nominated our own- Engr Charles OGUNMOLA as the Executive Director, Project. It is a dream come true for a State has been grossly marginalised since the inception of the NDDC in 2001.
We commend the forthrightness and courage of President Muhammad Buhari for constituting the NDDC Board with the appointment of credible and resourceful personalities to the Board.
However, we implore all stakeholders to join hands with this personality to bring succour to the people. As usual, it is normal for few individuals for selfish reasons or whatever to raise issues anytime a courageous decision like this is taken, but now that it has been done, which is for the good of the people, we call for the cooperation and understanding of the entire people for the benefit of all, particularly, the people who bear the brunt of the environmental challenges as a result of oil explorations.
Signed
