AKOGUN OMOLE: A CAT WITH NINE LIVES
From the Hallowed Chamber to the Executive Chamber……..
Political trajectory must be steady. After all, they say slow and steady win the race. You grow from bottom to top. This is the story of Akogun Omole, the newly sworn-in Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Information and Strategy.
Perhaps, a handful of people didn’t know that Akogun Omole started quite early in life. He toed the progressive route with the finest of men who honored hard work, consistency and integrity. He was an ideal example of a student of developmental politics as he had been under the tutelage of visionary leaders who taught him the art and the act.
Between 2001 to 2003, Akogun served as the Personal Assistant Youth and Union Matters in the Office of the then Governor Chief Adebayo Adefarati. His love for sports particularly Football made him become Camp Commandant Sunshine Stars FC between 2009 to 2011.
He took a detour from politics to chase personal development through quality education as well business. And in 2017, late Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN,CON appointed him as Education Secretary,Akoko South West Local Government. Aware of the courageous support he gave Aketi during the thick days of electioneering campaign, the baton to lead the people of Constituency 1 of Akoko South West was handed over to him and he won convincingly. Between 2019 to 2023, Akogun wasn’t just a Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly but became its spokesperson and made his mark.
Akogun, true to his name fearlessly represented his people and fought for the unity of Oka Akoko even when attempts were made to balkanize a united kingdom which he represented. The struggle for survival of his people in their farm settlements received his attention and he stood by them even when it wasn’t politically correct to do so.
Against the wish of his people, he was denied the APC ticket by principalities in his party and the party got punished as the people voted for the opposition party in the 2023 House of Assembly elections.
Like a seed that has been planted, Akogun sprouted again and he’s today a Special Adviser to the Governor of Ondo State on Information and Strategy. If there is anything called steady political progression, Hon Akogun Olugbenga Omole is a true definition of one.
We wish him well in this new role as he serves our state again.
