Akinola Should Not Drag Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo into His Cheap Politics

The attention of the Media Team of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has been drawn to a statement credited to the Ondo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Akinola, in which he made spurious and unfounded references to the Minister.

Ordinarily, we would have ignored such baseless claims, but for the need to set the record straight and prevent deliberate attempts to mislead the public.

For the avoidance of doubt, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (BTO) has absolutely nothing to do with the political controversies or internal issues within the Ondo State Government. The Minister is fully focused on his national assignment of reforming and repositioning the Ministry of Interior for greater efficiency and service delivery to Nigerians.

It is therefore distasteful and irresponsible for the Commissioner to drag the name of Hon. Tunji-Ojo into matters that have no bearing whatsoever on him. If Mr. Akinola has any shred of evidence to support his allegations, let him present it to the public. Otherwise, his remarks amount to nothing more than political blackmail aimed at diverting attention from his own issues.

We wish to state categorically that BTO is not sponsoring any group or individual to cause disunity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, nor is he involved in any form of political scheming as being mischievously suggested. The Honourable Minister has remained a loyal party member and a committed progressive whose political philosophy is rooted in unity, performance, and service to the people.

It is not progressive politics to malign others in a bid to score cheap political points. Those entrusted with public offices should rather focus on delivering good governance and supporting the collective agenda of the APC-led administration, both at the state and federal levels.

We therefore advise Mr. Akinola to own up to his statements and take full responsibility for his utterances rather than attempting to shift blame or smear the reputation of a man who has no involvement in his affairs.

Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo remains committed to his duties as Minister of Interior and will not be distracted by the antics of political jobbers.

Signed:
BTO Media Team
