A Special Story for the Good People of Akoko North West Constituency II
(Ese/Afin, Odo Irun, Oke Irun, and Ogbagi Wards)
In Akoko North West Constituency II, Ese/Afin, Odo Irun, Oke Irun, and Ogbagi, the people have always shown love, trust, and confidence in one of their own, Alhaji Saliu Adekunle. Many had called on him to represent them in the House of Assembly, and their voices have been loud, passionate, and consistent.
I remember clearly the last by-election when I offered myself to serve as a representative in the House of Representatives. Though that attempt did not lead to victory, it was not a loss. It was a valuable lesson an experience that refined my vision and deepened my commitment to the cause of public service and development.
In recent times, I have once again heard your calls. Many of you, with so much passion, have urged me to step into the race for the House of Assembly. Your encouragement is humbling, your trust is overwhelming, and your belief in me is something I will never take for granted.
But after deep reflection and much consideration of the wider political atmosphere, I have chosen for now not to pursue the House of Assembly seat. This decision is not out of weakness, nor from lack of interest in our people’s progress. Rather, it is because I strongly believe that service is not tied only to political office.
My path at this moment will focus on strengthening my private business engagements. Through that platform, I will continue to create opportunitiesempowering our youths, creating jobs, driving growth, and contributing to Ondo State’s development. Service, after all, wears many robes, and politics is only one of them.
In his message, he humbly appealed: “My dear people, kindly take down all posts, banners, and campaigns calling for me to run. Let us stay united, disciplined, and focused as we continue to work together under our great party, the APC. With patience and unity, victory will always be ours.”
Let this story continue not of one man’s ambition, but of a community’s shared dream. Together, in unity and faith, we will keep building, growing, and serving one another.
With gratitude and deep respect,
Alhaji Saliu Adekunle
Afin Akoko, Ondo State.
