Hon. Rasheed Olalekan Elegbeleye: The Working of a True Public Servant

An objective scrutiny and examination of the legislative cum representative duties of Hon. Rasheed Olalekan Elegbeleye, member Ondo State House of Assembly representing Akoko North East Constituency will no doubt reveal what a fine breed of new age politician that he is. With his records and antecedents amongst his people so far, it’s no gainsaying to posit that he has done amazingly well and he represent a ray of hope that it’s very much possible that we have genuine public servants coming out of the nation’s present political class.

Among his contemporaries, he has continued to set the bar higher with strategically defined projects and initiatives for the greater good of his constituency unit, bringing to their doorstep the much desired dividends of a pure democratic system through effective legislation and representation.

His words, his bond; he has continued to stay true to his various electoral promises, deviating from none giving the people the general satisfaction that they indeed gave their mandate to the right candidate, one who is truly committed to their affairs, their growth and development.

Highly revered and recognized as a core grassroot politician with a unique personality which endears people across the social stratification divide, he has ensured that no one is left in benefitting from the various projects and initiatives put in place by his led representation as he has ensured that these various benefits are brought to the doorstep of his constituency people.

Undeterred by the various harsh economic condition, he has continued to reach out to the people with people oriented projects which has in no small measure positively changed the socio-economic outlook of his constituency unit.

It is worthy to note that despite the fact that the highly proactive lawmaker has not received any Constituency allowance since the year 2019, he has successfully leveraged on the limited financial resources at his disposal to bring an all inclusive representation to his people.

Within two years, he has successfully repaired 33 boreholes in Akoko North East to the delight of the people who had suffered the lack of drinkable water for a very long time, in his goodwill, he also saw to the donation of thousands of blocks for the fencing of Ikare Grammar school hall, Akoko.

Adding to the aforementioned, he recently facilitated the SMEDAN loan empowerment and training to the good people of Akoko North East Constituency, this scheme was designed as part of the drive of the highly proactive lawmaker to ensure the financial liberation of his people by providing them with soft loans for business start-ups and also for the management of their respective business. He has also provided an avenue to ensure that they are well trained and equipped to take on and manage the various challenges that comes with doing business in the 21st century world.

Also, adding to his illustrious contributions in his constituency, the lawmaker on the 21st of May 2021 facilitated the ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for a new ultra-modern examination hall.

The event had witnessed the presence of many sons and daughters of the constituency who had come not only to witness the occasion but also to show their appreciation to Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye.

The realties of the present day politics has seen politics evolve from representation based on sentiments and affiliation, and men like Hon. Rasheed Olalekan Elegbeleye is among the few elites who have truly and genuinely committed themselves to changing the narrative for the better in their respective societies. It’s the hope of the larger society that men like him will begin to spring up even as we continually wish for a better and more fruitful political system.
