2023: Amosun Banks On Outstanding Quality To Become President
The race for the 2023 presidency is one which has given Nigerians enough to talk about, it’s one which has left them with many candidates to pick from.
In the history of the nation, the 2023 general election no doubt holds the record of having the highest number of aspirants who have come out to declare their interest in the presidency.
However as we continue to examine the various names who have come forth to lay claim on the highly coveted seat, Ibikunle Amosun, former Ogun State Governor, 2011 to 2019, and a Senator representing the Ogun central in the Senate on the platform of APC, is a name that stands out among others.
While Nigerians have continued to debate over the credibility and suitability of many of the Aspirant who have come forth to declare their interest, the candidacy of Amosun is one which sends a wave of calmness and credibility to the majority.
He comes to the fore with a clean state and a trajectory which establishes him as a true progressive and democrat. His tenure while serving in Ogun State saw him left a good legacy for the people of the State.
Over the years, he has cemented himself as a true and good political icon with a deep concern and love for the people. His policies have been generally applauded to be people oriented while he also comes to the fore with an alluring character and qualities which makes him more loved and popularly accepted.
His good attributes will see his people give him the support and mandate to continue serving them at the Red Chamber after serving as the Governor of the State.
Adding to this, he is a loyal party stakeholder of the All Progressive Congress, one who is well respected by party members across the 36 states of the Federation.
More importantly, he is a trusted ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, who sees him as a worthy replacement when he eventually leaves office come 2023. It would be recalled that both were together in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) before they left to form the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The formidable relationship which has been built between the two over the years has seen Amosun become an acceptable figure in the Aso Rock Cabal, and it is been understood that the presidency believes that Amosun is an individual who can be trusted to stay loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari when he eventually leaves office.
Amosun during his official declaration made it clear that his administration will not only build on successes of the Buhari led administration, but also to ensure that he prioritize human security as the fundamental principle and ultimate goal of national security.
As culled from his official declaration speech, he highlights the health care sector, Education, Agriculture and Food Security, Infrastructure, Rural and Urban Development, Technology, Innovation and Digital Economy and Nation Building sectors as key areas which he would prioritize.
In his words, “Guided by unprecedented investment in human security, the integration of the eight areas of this carefully planned agenda for national reawakening will, within four years, unleash unparalleled human resources that will make Nigerians proud of their motherland.”
“It bears repeating that Nigeria has the required manpower, both at home and abroad to accomplish this agenda. Under my leadership, we will mobilize Nigeria’s immense human and natural resources to rebuild our education sector, healthcare, infrastructures – including electricity, roads, and water supply – and expand our technological capacity to meet the challenges of the 21st century.”
No doubt, Amosun holds a strong credentials and portfolio for the president, it’s left to Nigerians to decide who will eventually succeed Buhari come 2023
